So this is my 1st blog to my new little business. Photography has been a passion of mine ever since I was 8 years old. When I was young I got my 1st camera, a little red 110. Instead of allowance my mom would develop my photos. I would set up wild displays in my bedroom, creating my own backdrops out of bed sheets and window drapes. My models were my dolls, my mothers Sheltie dogs, or my little brother (who I at one time got to wear a dress) :) I would torture all them by dressing them up in costumes to match each vivid background. Those poor little dogs.
As I aged I started taking classes in high school and college using 35MM. My hobby grew and grew through the years as I became known as the annoying friend who was always snapping pictures.
Once I had children, my passion really grew. We were entering the digital age of photography and I was starting to follow several other photographers and learning their tricks. My husband was so sweet to buy me my first real bad ass camera. A Cannon EOS 50D. With 2 little ones I soon put it to use, experimenting with textures, editing, lens and more. After 4 years of posting these photos on Facebook people kept asking me, why don't you shoot for a living? I had always dreamed of doing that but was to scared. Would people actually pay me for doing something I enjoyed? Would they be happy with what I created for them? I took my first job and the response brought me to tears. A happy mom and over 100 comments from her friends online LOVING my images. I couldn't believe it. I had to give it a try.
So today I work a full time job, co-own my husband contracting business, have 2 kids, volunteer for the PTA, and some how find the time to take wonderful images of family's, baby's, & kids. How I do it all I don't know, but the fun part is the journey. Nothing worth having is not without hard work - and I'm determined to make this business everything I have ever dreamed of.
